The maximum ordinary working day for any domestic helper is 40 hours per week. As long as rest periods are respected, they can be arranged as the parties agree. Overtime worked must be compensated at least at the same rate as regular working hours or compensated with paid rest time. It is necessary to allocate time for main meals and rest for full-time housekeepers. The rest period between effective working days must be at least 12 hours. They are entitled to 36 consecutive hours of rest during the weekend. They have the right to 30 calendar days of vacation per year (at least 15 consecutive calendar days, and in the absence of an agreement, the employer may determine them) and to 14 public holidays per year.
