How much does a domestic helper earn?

The 2024 salary table for domestic employeesestablishes that a domestic employee working 40 hours a week may not receive a salary of less than 15,876 euros per year. That is, 1,134 euros per month in 14 payments per year or 1,323 euros in 12 payments.

What is the cost of Social Security for a domestic staff?

The social security contribution of a domestic helper is calculated by applying a contribution base determined by the total monthly salary, according to the table of social security contribution ranges in effect. The employer is responsible for paying Social Security contributions.

How many vacation days is the domestic helper entitled to?

Any person working in domestic service is entitled to 2.5 days of vacations per month worked even if he/she has not completed one year of work. Vacation days must be taken between January 1 and December 31 of each year in which they are earned.

How to interview a domestic helper?

It is important to have in hand the employee's data, the employer's data, the duration of the contract and the type of contract (indefinite or fixed-term), the working day and the agreed salary, the address of the activity, the insurance company (INSS or a collaborating mutual insurance company), the employer's contact data and the direct debit.
