How to choose a trusted nanny for your family

Choosing the person who will care for your children is one of the most important decisions for any family. A CV is not enough: trust, fit with the household's dynamics and rigorous reference verification make all the difference.

Define what your family needs

The children's ages, the languages you want to reinforce, the schedules and the family's educational style all shape the ideal profile. A nanny for a newborn does not have the same profile as one for school-age children.

Key interview questions

  • Previous experience with children of similar ages.
  • Specific training: Montessori, paediatric first aid.
  • How they handle routines, boundaries and conflict situations.
  • Availability and schedule flexibility.

Always verify references

Speaking directly with previous families provides information no CV reflects. At Maids & Co we contact previous employers before presenting any candidate.

The best indicator of a good nanny is not experience on paper, but what the families she has worked for say about her.
