The cost of a caretaker couple is for two people and starts at around €3,000/month over 12 payments for the couple, plus accommodation on the estate, and varies with the duties, experience and size of the property. Each member always earns equal to or above the 2026 SMI (€1,424.50 gross/month over 12 payments), with two Social Security registrations. Figures are approximate.

A caretaker couple's contract and rights
A caretaker couple's contract is put in writing from day one, with a contract and a Social Security registration for each member of the couple. The maximum working week is 40 hours of effective work per person, with a minimum weekly rest of 36 hours, at least 24 of them consecutive, and a 12-hour rest between working days.
