Chamberí grew with Madrid's 19th-century extension: blocks of flats in Almagro and Trafalgar, the mansions around the Castellana and neighbourhood streets around Plaza de Olavide. For those homes, Maids & Co selects carers for older people, live-in and live-out housekeepers, hourly housekeepers and nannies.
Chamberí is one of the areas covered by our domestic staff agency in Madrid: the same selection process, fee and guarantee in the city and across the region.
DOMESTIC STAFF IN CHAMBERÍ
We select the profile each property really needs
Every family needs a staffing structure suited to its way of life, its priorities and the way its residence runs.
In the same building there may be a lady who needs company and help in the mornings, a young family looking for a full-time live-out housekeeper and a flat that only needs cleaning and ironing three mornings a week. That is why we select hourly staff from 15 hours a week, part-time, full-time and live-in.
We select staff in all six neighbourhoods of Chamberí
Gaztambide
Arapiles
Trafalgar
Almagro
Ríos Rosas
Vallehermoso
+ Argüelles, Malasaña and Chueca, which border the district to the west and south
LIVE-IN AND LIVE-OUT
Two ways of organising the service
Depending on the family's needs. Many of the profiles can join under either arrangement.
Lives in the home
Live-in staff
Resides in the property or in accommodation provided by the family. It suits longer hours, a greater presence, properties far from town or roles that require living in.
Lives out, set hours
Live-out staff
Works in the residence on set hours without living there: full-time, part-time or a specific arrangement depending on the duties of the role.
or
The choice depends on the professional profile, the family's needs and how the residence is organised.
OLDER PEOPLE AT HOME
Staying at home, with the help it takes
According to Madrid Salud's sociodemographic indicators for 2025, 23.9% of Chamberí residents are 65 or older (20.0% across Madrid as a whole) and 20.1% live alone (13.2% in the city); of those living alone, 10,183 are 65 or older.
When an older person wants to stay at home, we work out the right arrangement with the family: a live-out carer in the mornings for washing, shopping and lunch; a live-in carer, who lives in the home with set rest periods, if someone is needed by day and by night; or two carers who take turns. We look at experience with mobility, personal care and companionship, and we speak to the families they have worked for.
DOMESTIC COUPLES
Domestic couples in Chamberí
We select domestic couples for main residences, second homes and estates, distinguishing the experience each type of property calls for. We assess both professionals together, look at how they actually shared duties in previous posts and check their references.
A single point of contact who knows your home, from the first call to the start of the role.

Domestic staff in Chamberí: frequently asked questions
It depends on what they need through the day. If they manage with help and mornings are the hard part (washing, shopping, lunch), a live-out carer is usually enough; if they also need company at night, a live-in carer or two carers taking turns is the better choice. We decide it with you before the search starts.
Yes, from 15 hours a week, for example three mornings of 5 hours for cleaning, ironing and tidying. For fewer hours we don't open a search, but we still point you in the right direction. As with any domestic employment contract, the family registers the housekeeper with Social Security from the first hour.
By metro, with several lines inside the district: line 1 runs under Santa Engracia and Luchana, stopping at Cuatro Caminos, Ríos Rosas, Iglesia and Bilbao; line 2, under Bravo Murillo and San Bernardo, stops at Canal and Quevedo; and lines 4, 5 and 10 meet at Alonso Martínez. For shifts that start very early or end at night, someone who lives a few stops away is best.
All six in the district, between Calle de la Princesa and the Castellana and between Alberto Aguilera and Cuatro Caminos: Gaztambide, Arapiles, Trafalgar, Almagro, Ríos Rosas and Vallehermoso, including Plaza de Olavide, Santa Engracia, Fuencarral and Bravo Murillo. We also cover the neighbouring parts of Centro and Moncloa.
You pay nothing during the search and only pay if you hire: a one-off fee equal to one month of the agreed salary plus VAT, once the person is working in your home and you are happy. As everywhere in Madrid, we replace the person free of charge if they leave or don't settle in within the first 6 months, and if you are not satisfied in the first month we refund 50% of the fee.
