In 2026, a live-in housekeeper in Madrid earns a median of €1,600 gross a month over 12 payments, and a full-time live-out housekeeper €1,500. Across Spain, hourly staff are paid a median of €12 an hour. These are medians of the 2026 hires closed by Maids & Co.

What we count
Every hire Maids & Co closed with a start date in 2025 or 2026, with the salary agreed when it closed, not the one in the first offer. One per job: replacements do not count.
The type of job
The one in the job profile (live-in, full-time live-out, part-time live-out, or couple), checked against the contract type it closed with. If they do not match, the case is left out.
Everything over 12 payments, gross
If 14 payments were agreed, the salary is multiplied by 14 and divided by 12. Only contracts with 12 or 14 payments, agreed gross, count.
Outliers
A full-time job cannot pay less than that year's 40-hour minimum wage: below it, with a 1% rounding margin, the contract does not fit a full-time job (in most of those that state the hours, the week was shorter). We would also remove any salary more than three times the median of its type; there are none in this data.
Only with 10 cases or more
A figure is published only if at least 10 hires back it. Percentiles use linear interpolation, and each year is kept apart because each has its own minimum wage.

What does it cost the family?
