Live-in domestic staff for families and properties in Monaco

Maids & Co is an agency specialising in the selection of live-in domestic staff for families and properties in Monaco and in the nearby residential areas on the French side of the border.

In Monaco we select live-in staff only, living in the property or in accommodation provided by the family: from traditional household duties to cooking, driving, childcare, personal assistance, maintenance and running a team.

LIVE-IN DOMESTIC STAFF IN MONACO

We select the profile each property really needs

A flat in Monte Carlo or Fontvieille may need a live-in housekeeper for cleaning, cooking and ironing, a nanny or a combined role; a larger residence, a head housekeeper, a chauffeur, a chef, a butler or several live-in staff. If the family also has a villa in Cap-d'Ail, Beausoleil or Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, the roles of both properties have to be coordinated.

A main residence and a seasonal one are not the same, nor are a family with small children and one with several homes: before any search, we define which profile and way of working suit each case.

Among others, we select these profiles, always on a live-in basis:

COVERAGE IN MONACO

We select live-in staff in the main residential areas

  • Monte Carlo
  • Carré d'Or
  • Larvotto
  • Fontvieille
  • Monaco-Ville
  • La Condamine
  • Cap-d'Ail
  • Beausoleil
  • Roquebrune-Cap-Martin

Monte Carlo, Carré d'Or and Larvotto

Live-in staff for town residences and household teams

Large residences and flats with staff quarters where one or several people work. In larger teams, a head housekeeper or butler coordinates the staff, suppliers, travel and the other properties.

Fontvieille

Live-in staff for family homes and properties near the marina

Family flats and spacious residences tied to everyday life in the Principality: from a live-in housekeeper for the house, kitchen and laundry to a nanny, a governess, a chef or a team who travel with the family.

Monaco-Ville and the Rock

Live-in staff for residences with specific service needs

Few residential properties, some very different from a standard flat. We select according to the size of the house, the presence required and the other staff.

Cap-d'Ail, Beausoleil and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin

Live-in staff for villas and properties near Monaco

Villas a few minutes from the Principality that call for a different structure: domestic couples, caretakers, head housekeepers, chefs or chauffeurs. With homes in Monaco and France, we define each role by the property where the work is done.

SEVERAL RESIDENCES AND A FAMILY ON THE MOVE

Staff able to fit into a more complex household

In Monaco it is common for a family to keep several residences or to travel regularly, and the role may involve travel, coordination with other teams and the same standards in each home. Before the search, we define the employee's usual residence, travel and duties in each property.

LIVE-IN STAFF

An arrangement built on residence and stability

Lives in the home

Lives in the property

The employee lives in the property or in accommodation provided by the family and works under the agreed terms.

  • Not round-the-clock availability

Living in does not mean being available at all hours: duties, hours, rest and accommodation are set out from the start.

  • When it fits

It is the right arrangement when the family needs continuity, travels often or the property needs a steady presence.

LANGUAGES AND INTERNATIONAL FAMILIES

Staff able to work in multilingual households

Monaco brings together international families and multilingual households. We select people with English, French, Spanish or Italian, among others; with children, in personal assistance or running a team, language can be an essential requirement.

DOMESTIC COUPLES IN MONACO

Specialist selection for main residences and villas

We assess both people together, look at how they actually shared the work in previous roles and check their references. A couple can combine interior and cooking with driving, garden, vehicles, maintenance and supervising the property.

In the villas of Cap-d'Ail, Beausoleil or Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, a domestic couple is particularly well suited when the property needs a steady presence all year round or while the family is away.

START OF THE ROLE AND TERMS

Each role is adapted to where the work takes place

If the role is in Monaco, the start is organised under the Principality's rules; if the property is in France, under the French framework. With homes in both countries, it is worth defining beforehand where the work is usually done and what travel is expected.

Maids & Co handles the search, assessment, interviews and reference checks, and supports the family through the start of the role. The employment relationship is formalised directly between the family and the employee, under the applicable rules.

Requirements for working in Monaco

  • Monaco is not part of the EU: no foreign national, Spanish or French included, may hold private employment without a work permit (Law no. 629, art. 1).
  • The employer obtains written authorisation before the person starts (art. 4), after the opinion of Public Security and the occupational health office (art. 2).
  • If the work is done in a villa in France, French law applies and a candidate with EU nationality does not need a work permit.

Official sourcelegimonaco.mc (Law no. 629 of 17 July 1957, arts. 1, 2 and 4) and europa.eu/youreurope (work permits in the EU).

General guidance, not legal advice: each case is confirmed with the family's adviser or the country's authorities.

HOW WE WORK

A selection process adapted to each family

The process begins with an analysis of the property, the family, the duties of the role and its terms. The first profiles usually arrive within a few days; the start date depends on travel and, where needed, on permits.

  1. Needs analysis

Together with the family we define the profile, the duties, the accommodation and the main requirements of the role.

  2. Selection and assessment

We search for and interview people with relevant experience and check their track record and references.

  3. Shortlist and interviews

We present a shortlist of suitable profiles so that the family can meet them and judge the fit in person.

  4. Start of the role

Once the family has chosen, we support the start of the role and the setting of its terms.

FEES AND GUARANTEE

One-off fee and a 50% refund in the first month

The family pays nothing during the search. Only when the person starts, and if the family is satisfied, is a single fee due: one month of the agreed salary, plus VAT where applicable depending on where the job is. No subscriptions or lock-in.

  • One-off fee: one month's salary (+ VAT where applicable)

A single payment, only when the person starts. The exact amount is confirmed in advance.

  • 50% refund in the first month

If you're not satisfied during the first month, we refund 50% of the fee.

  • Interviews and travel

Interviews can take place by video or in person. The family covers the travel for the start of the role.
