In Madrid, a live-in housekeeper is the answer for families with large homes and demanding schedules: busy professionals and executives who need the household to run without interruption, multi-storey homes in gated communities, and international families who split their time in and out of the city. A live-in housekeeper resides in the home and offers the widest availability allowed within the legal rest periods.

Maids & Co has been placing live-in staff in Madrid homes since 2009. We interview in depth, verify references by speaking directly with previous employers, and assess the genuine fit with each family: routines, household size, pets, languages and the level of service expected. As an officially licensed agency (SNE licence no. 1300000318), the contract and Social Security registration are in order from day one.

No two Madrid households are alike. A period flat in Salamanca or Chamberí has very different needs from a villa in La Moraleja or La Finca with staff, children and regular guests. That is why we never send a generic catalogue: we define the profile with you and present the first candidates within 48 hours, with nothing to pay until you hire.

What it costs

A live-in housekeeper's salary in Madrid is paid for her work, not for living in: accommodation and meals are the employer's responsibility and are never deducted from her wage. These are the indicative figures for 2026.

Areas we cover

Madrid has the highest demand for live-in staff in Spain, and it peaks in the north and west. La Moraleja, La Finca, Puerta de Hierro, Conde de Orgaz and Aravaca are full of large detached homes where a live-in housekeeper — or a service couple — comfortably covers cleaning, cooking, ironing and day-to-day support. In the centre, neighbourhoods such as Salamanca, Chamberí and Chamartín look for discreet live-in staff for period flats and families with demanding professional schedules.

We also cover the western corridor — Pozuelo de Alarcón, Aravaca, Las Rozas and Somosaguas — residential areas with many international families where fluent English and experience with children or the elderly make all the difference. Salaries in these premium areas tend towards the upper end of the market, and we match the profile to your budget and to what each home actually needs.

We cover the whole of Madrid and its metropolitan area, including Salamanca, Chamberí, Chamartín, La Moraleja, La Finca, Puerta de Hierro, Conde de Orgaz, Aravaca, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Las Rozas and Somosaguas.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a live-in housekeeper cost in Madrid?
Expect a market salary of 1,500 to 2,500 €/month gross, plus the employer's Social Security contributions (around 29%). In premium areas such as La Moraleja or La Finca, the most qualified profiles can reach 3,000 €/month. The legal minimum is the SMI: 1,424.50 €/month over 12 payments (1,221 € over 14). Accommodation and meals are not deducted from the salary.
Does a live-in housekeeper earn less because she lives in?
No. She is paid for her work, not for living in the home. Accommodation and meals are the employer's obligation and cannot be offset against her salary — in fact, many professionals choose live-in roles precisely because they pay more. She is entitled to 12 hours' rest between working days — which, for live-in roles, may be reduced to 10, with the difference made up over a period of up to four weeks — and to 36 consecutive hours off each week.
Which parts of Madrid do you cover?
We work across the whole of Madrid and its metropolitan area, with particularly strong demand for live-in staff in Salamanca, Chamberí, Chamartín, La Moraleja, La Finca, Puerta de Hierro, Conde de Orgaz, Aravaca, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Las Rozas and Somosaguas.
How quickly will I see candidates, and what guarantee do I get?
We present the first profiles within 48 hours. You pay nothing until you hire: our fee is one month's salary plus VAT, backed by a 6-month guarantee. If the housekeeper isn't the right fit within that period, we find a replacement at no extra cost. As an officially licensed agency (SNE no. 1300000318), we handle the contract and Social Security registration from the very first hour.
